Our technology stack is robust, featuring Java with Quarkus and HK2 for dependency injection and control, Vue.js for frontend development, and GitLab for our codebase management and CI/CD pipelines. For monitoring and observability, we utilize Datadog, ensuring our SaaS architecture, hosted on AWS, operates seamlessly and efficiently.

The mission
Caravelo is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager for the Features and Growth team.A Senior Engineering Manager who is comfortable with management practices and has both soft and tech skills to raise the bar of our software development team focused on feature development and growth. 

The mission is to inspire and guide a complementary team of approximately 8 engineers, including Technical Leaders, Backend, and Front-end Developers, in delivering value to customers while contributing to the overall success of the company. 

You will play a pivotal role in refining Agile practices, ensuring roadmap predictability, and fostering a collaborative environment across teams. You will need a pragmatic and positive attitude to succeed, with a focus on adaptability and change management. Both aspects are essential as the company transitions from a sales-led to a product-led mindset. 

Duties and responsibilities
  • You are not a first-time manager, you have experience leading software development teams and working with executive teams.

  • You have proven success in analyzing and implementing process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and drive business success.

  • You have a strong Technical background in Java application development or similar backend programming languages, in the context of a product-oriented company. 

  • You are willing to roll up your sleeves, directly and indirectly, to coach the teams and lead by example. Demonstrate how to dive into technical errors or problems to find solutions, unblocking the team whenever necessary.

  • You are comfortable managing complex, multi-faceted projects with excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.

  • You can communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in English and Spanish.

Your main goals at Caravelo

  • People Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a squad of ~8 Engineers (50-50 BE and FE), fostering a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment.

  • Delivery Management: Oversee sprint commitments, draft roadmap timelines, influence priorities, ensure roadmap completion, and maintain a high level of predictability.

  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teams like Integrations and Platform, aligning with Product Managers and other stakeholders.

  • Technical Decision-Making: Collaborate with Tech Leads for technical decisions, while having full autonomy within the team regarding work processes.
